Sometimes crazy things happen while you’re asleep, and this one is a dream come true. I woke up today to texts from a friend asking if I had seen the latest episode of HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Even though I love John Oliver, I haven’t been keeping up with the show lately, so I had no idea they had used my T Rex Dancing Ballet video. It was a jurassic surprise. (Sorry, that pun was too good to pass up.)

Now that’s a great way to start my day. I’m particularly glad they used it to help describe the beautiful, albeit silly and weird, ways in which America is great. The comments on the original video are full of people saying that T Rex is actually great at ballet (that’s Taylor Carrasco, a dancer with Cincinnati Ballet, by the way) and thanking us for giving them a laugh during their day. It’s a great feeling to know people had a chance to simply enjoy themselves for a moment through something I filmed. I guess that’s why people like John Oliver become comedians in the first place.
